Enjoy This “In The Kitchen” Guest Article By ThePlasticSpoon, Who Got Ready For South Beach Seafood Week’s Chef Showdown With Executive Chef Jeffrey Williams Of The Social Club at Surfcomber
Hey Seafoodies! David from ThePlasticSpoon here. Are you ready for the Chef Showdown – Miami’s most epic night of competition? I am…because I got to interview Chef Jeffrey Williams as he prepares for his upcoming Battle Surf n’ Turf against two-time champion Chef Sean Brasel.
Chef Jeffery Williams is the executive chef for The Social Club and is the palate behind their to-die-for menu. He’s really looking forward to the competition and interacting with the guests.
When it comes to his plan for winning his battle, he says:
“The face-time with the guests is key. To share the moment with your team, shake some hands, and give them an opportunity to connect with us is a special moment.”
The Social Club
The Social Club is one of many famous party spots on South Beach. You’ve probably seen it on TV (and all over social media) because they host events like Miami Swimsuit Week and other huge parties.
What you might NOT know is that the Social Club serves up one of Miami’s top brunch and dinner menus. No joke, what you’re about to see can’t be accurately described with words!
Chef Williams personally picked out and prepared two of his signature dishes for me. We started with Clams in a Dashi Broth with Fried Pork Belly and Green Onions.
It was paired with a prosecco bourbon cocktail. Honestly, shout out to the mixologist, Andreas! He really knows how to make drinks!
Next, we had the Argentinian Red Shrimp with a Chorizo Sauce. Talk about flavorful. Both of these dishes could win a Surf n’ Turf battle in my opinion!
These aren’t the dishes Chef Jeffrey will be preparing for his battle at the VIP Chef Showdown though – that’s a secret!
VIP Chef Showdown at South Beach Seafood Week
As I alluded to earlier, Chef Jeffrey is really looking forward to the VIP Chef Showdown that takes place on Friday night, October 19th.
Editor’s Note: The VIP Chef Showdown assembles 14 of Miami’s top executive chefs for an evening of competitive cook-offs where YOU are the judge. In a perfect combination of competition level cuisine, tropically fresh cocktails, and live entertainment, the Chef Showdown tours guests through the best of Miami’s culinary scene. This is a CAN’T miss experience for all.
When asked about his cooking style and food philosophy, he said:
“I’m really influenced by all the chefs around the world that I’ve worked with and they all taught me to highlight that signature dish.
At the Surfcomber, we sell an experience! I’ve really made a menu that within each signature dish, travelers will remember for a lifetime.”
I have a feeling Chef Jeffrey will make the Chef Showdown at South Beach Seafood Week something to remember. This event is easily the best food and wine festival event in the fall. You don’t want to miss it!
I am very excited to root for him on October 19th and I hope you’ll join me! Use promo code ThePlasticSpoon to save 20% on your tickets here!
